Reblogged from Dr. Joseph Wise--Winning for Kids!:

Hardly new news, but in case you missed it, the Chicago Teachers Union (CTU) is on strike. First time in 25 years. What you may not know is the following:

1. Charter schools are up and running and operating per normal in Chicago. I am particularly proud of the Distinctive Schools teachers and staff doing all possible to prevent disruption to our 4 campuses.

  2. Wow… I’m perplexed as to why he didn’t add the fifth plank, which said the teachers strike could have been completely prevented if the top echelon of Chicago wage earners were retaxed at a fair assessment.

If you raised taxes on all those making over one million, you wouldn’t never again, need a strike…..

The fuel feeding the strike, is the total lack of reinvestment which has been done to the school system over the past decade, when we began dismantling the revenue acquiring process.. They desperately need more money pouring in. The strike is not about requesting a handout for a couple of doors… It is a plea to tax the wealthy more….. which must happen.

Joe Wise’s Own Words Right Back At Him:

    (4. In these economic times, with our Nation’s current standing in the global economy, how could any person of lavish wealth, any such person, be so quick to shirk from paying their fair share, after leading with a 19% recuduction rate on capital gains, actually demand for more tax cuts on average annual gains of $71,000,000. I would like for us to be able to pay our charter schools with that much money that once was, but now is no longer being assessed.. Due to lack of equal funding provided for charter schools in Illinois, we cannot afford to lose from our budget, the same percentage tax cuts have taken from theirs…. (yet).)

    The shoe fits.
