Highlights:

Among the issues cited in the statement issued Friday: decreasing enrollment, possible conflicts of interest with contractors, the Attorney General’s Office investigation into Freedom of Information Act complaints and a Pension Board referral of information about the school to the attorney general for possible “criminal and/or civil violations.”

“Conditions have deteriorated over the past few weeks and action is required,” Gray, the state Board of Education president, said in the statement. “We are trying to do what is best for students, families and staff both for this school year and, hopefully, for the future.”

All that can be said at this point is: better late than never, and I hope the lessons learned inform future interventions. Governor Markell joined the narrative, as a silent thought partner it appears, ensuring that the problems are described as “isolated”. Pretty funny that that had to make the story.

  1. I want to personally thank Harrie Ellen Minnehan for her tireless efforts to stand up for what is right, and to fight to keep this school open. It would be in the schools best interest for all parents to beg for her return.
    Thank you also to Elizabeth Scheinburg for standing up as well, and working to expose the school and the illegal school board.
    Thank you to the parents (not enough of them) who stood up at the school board meetings and demanded answers.
    Now, we just pray that this isn’t all pomp and circumstance to “look” like the state DOE is actually going to do something. Let’s pray that they unseat the board and the school leader, and that they get some quality leadership in place (ie. HEM) so that this school might have a chance of pulling themselves out of the mud.

    I should also add a thank you to John Young, Kilroy, and Nicole from the NJ for taking the time to expose the corruption and fraud.

    Thank you, you guys are my heroes!
