Hi Dan,
Here is the information you requestedJ
· Is Pencader still contracting with Innovative Schools for any services? If so, has the level of service or type of contract changed?
We are no longer contracting with Innovative Schools for any services. Although Bill Bentz continues to work directly with me relative to Pencader’s Budget.
· Has Pencader entered into any other contracts for similar services—i.e. business/finance management?
Michael Scanlan declined the contract with Innovative Schools and we hired him as a casual/seasonal, and he will continue to work on Payroll, Human Resources, and Benefits.
· Can you pls email me a list of Pencader’s full Board—their names, their terms, etc. We need to update this.

Seriously? How can a school leader announce ANTICIPATED BOARD MEMBERS? On what grounds is she asserting they are anticipated? Did she select them? How many have employment relationships outside the boardroom, does this group fulfill the bylaws requirements of 2 parents and two teachers (not paras)? Is she installing them? Isn’t this an independent board function?
Is this what the charter law intended by asking for innovation? Oh, and where in the hell is the blue ribbon panel Rep. Schooley, Sen. Sokola and Gov. Markell?
Reminds me of one of my favorite Naked Gun scenes:
Isn’t `10 an even number?
quorum is 6, per PCHS bylaws then
milford and indian river have 8 and 10 person boards respectively.
but an odd number works so much better for voting….especially when you have 2 teachers and 2 + parent reps….where’s the neutrality coming from? Question of board control I’d say….just sayin’
agree completely, just pointing out it exists elsewhere.
Hmmmm. Vito DiMaio of Parcels… Isn’t Parcels in their checkbook? Another vendor with a Pencader connection… First, Ron Carbine joins the staff (he’s not a vendor anymore) and now Parcels comes in-house. Incest, anyone?
hey! you’re not allowed to check public records like the checkbook and make wild assertions like that! You’re officially off Team Lewis!
LMFAO john!!!
Total Bummer! I so wanted to be a part of the cult!

Vito D. is the Exec. VP of Parcels Inc.
Sean Kennedy is the VP of Parcels Inc.
Judi Kennedy is Sean Kennedy’s sister and of course, she works for Parcel’s Inc. and she’s a Pencader Board Member.
And Pencader paid Parcel’s Inc. $1554.00 for school supplies and (you’ll love this one) conference fees. A conference on photo copying? or delivery?
How do you think the Johnson’s feel about their business being associated with teflon annie? I’m sure that’ll drive in sales!
Dang! John you have great connections! How do you get a hold of these emails! lol
Lewis is so arrogant, it makes me sick.
tip of the iceberg. Trust me.
John we need to go to the meeting Thursday what do think
So when is the rest of the iceburg going to melt?
I am sure old Vito D. will be impartial! I can hear the conversation of how he is getting on the board. Kennedy and Lewis sat in her office or at the restaurant having breakfast and decided they needed another board puppet. Kennedy says she knows a guy at her workplace that she thinks will do it if she tells him all he needs to do is show up and do whatever she does. Told him he won’t need to actually do any work or think.
Are there any board members that aren’t a relative or close friend of the Lewises or Judi’s or having at some point lived in Ann’s house?
It looks to me like the stage for Kennedy to be the board president is being set. Are there any qualifications to be a board president? Bachelor’s degree? Associates degree? high school diploma?
Is it legal for board members to work for a company that is a school’s vendor? That would be a good reason to become a board member – to send some business to my company. Wait a minute, isn’t that what Kennedy did all this past year? Was all her time volunteer with the co-op. If not, would that mean that she steered business to Parcels and to herself personally? What is her contracting company’s name in the checkbook? Did she do the co-op as a volunteer? Was it the same kind of volunteering as Mr. Lewis did? Did Lewis throw her some money because she knew how many volunteer hours were put in?
Does anyone know how many non-Pencader students, parents, and faculty attended the Block Party of the Century? I never saw an answer to Checking In’s question about how the 2000+ of our tax dollars were spent that day.
Just another 501-c-3 corporation, considered a “public school” under Delaware Code, carrying out its business. Oh, yes…corporations pick their owns board of directors…and people are surprised by this series of events? In the case of the Laurel School District, a financial team, led by the state’s Office of Management and Budget, also with the General Assembly’s Office of the Controller General, poured over and through the financial and related management of the school district. The question is: has this happened at Pencader?
Dan asked Ann not anyone else. She gave him what he asked for. Perhaps she should have referred him to a board member but he didn’t ask a board member. How can they not be anticipated board members until the position has been accepted? Things need to change but heaven help us if the “hot heads” rule, it would be drama, drama, drama instead of constructive change.
Somehow I hear alot about personnel and personal feelings but not alot about students and their well being and education. Has anyone actually interviewed the students or are they just pawns in this whole game? How involved were those parents who are commenting in the affairs of the school? Were they there when activities were going on, sharing their opinions and providing their input? In my experience there are a lot of armchair quarterbacks but not alot of players on the field when it comes to parent involvement. Again in my experience it was 5% doing 95% of the activities, work, etc.
In a charter school, the board seats the board. At least in a high performing environment.
Mr. Lewis’s Pension Hearing So confusing… A. Lewis says Mr.Lewis never taught a business and ethics class. Mr. Lewis says he did. Both Lewises seem unable to distinguish what is volunteer time and what isn’t. Wasn’t there a plan for the kids that needed extra help. Did they only get help when Mr. Lewis came in from greeting kids at the bus and felt like volunteering some time to them? Who was the regular person that helped them?

CSD Resident – Armchair quarterbacking though it may be, the question is this – were resources diverted away from the classroom to enrich administrators and volunteers? I think the answer is fairly clear … YES. And it happened b/c the people that made the day-to-day operational decisions conjured the conversation and coached the data. It doesn’t matter how involved a parent or employee you are if the only information coming to you is their propaganda.
