Received this comment on my blog today…apparently asking who is funding a campaign = political lynching? Who’s using hyperbole now? I have never accused Ms. Harris of ANYTHING you suggest I have. I have asked about the $$, I have asked her to denounce the sordid tactics and mailers which she has done is the most tepid manner, and not once have I looked out for my own status or benefits from this unpaid endeavor. It just doesn’t ring true, Michael.

Submitted on 2012/05/01 at 12:00 pm | In reply to John Young.Val Harris has broken no laws and her life’s story and life’s work has been to help empower minority young girls through education. The white guys club’s relentless and often anonymous attacks on her character are shameful. Looking out for your own benefits and status while throwing an accomplished minority woman under the bus amounts to a political lynching.
You fail to mention that union leader Jack Paladori has been encouraging you on your blog to go after Val, and you have done exactly what he has told you to do. (And yes, we all understand that you are accumstomed to doing everything he tells you to do.) It’s a shame that a union leader would slander an accomplished African American woman who has given her life to serving the under-priveledged. Yes, it’s Jack’s job to protect the wages and benefits of his members, and to help elect people like you who care more about the adults than the kids, but he’s really taking it too far when he attacks her character, and you take it too far when you do his bidding. (C’mon John, can’t you be your own man?) Here we have an African American woman who is deeply disturbed by the trend of (mostly minority) children in Christina not getting anywhere near the education they deserve, and running for school board to try and make a difference, & you & Jack are undermining her character in order to retain your beloved status quo that only benefits you and yours. Sorry white boys, you are gonna need to make some room in your club! Also, tell Jack to take down his anonymous hate blog that goes after Val!
Let’s just deconstruct your comment, my rejoinders are in italics.
Funny how John Young says he “never accussed” Ms. Harris of anything when his own dishonest, misleading headline reads: “Valene Harris embraces soft, secret money.” Also, I see you protected your “boss” Jack Paladori by removing his comments on your blog. Don’t worry, we’ve got the screen shots, and he will be held accoutable for his racially-tinged antics.
I haven’t removed a single comment.
Tell me exactly how my headline isn’t 100% true.
Screen shot away!
Who is we?
The only racist here has been you sir.
There have been no derogatory comments directed at Ms. Harris. The comments have been directed at Delaware Voices 4 Education Action Fund, Inc.
The invocation of racism is a sad and weak defense of an organization that refuses to disclose its donors.
I wish Ms. Harris the best of luck in the campaign.
The sheer ignorance of your statement is an indictment of your integrity. Bebe Coker was wrong then and so was Mr. Smith. Were you at the meeting that Mr. Smith attended and made that comment at? No, OK then.
The only person playing the race card on this or any other blog about Ms. Harris is….drum roll please……YOU.
No, Bebe was wrong to impugn the actions of our board. Pop quiz Wade…can you even tell me what we did?
No one has undermined the character of Ms. Harris….EXCEPT Voices 4 Delaware Education Action Fund, which uses tax shield protections to undermine her own role in the event of a win. Quite a funny tactic….attacking the board and specifically a member who has voted against the board quite often…..
